Serve ON the Bult
Food bank
Many individuals in our church family as well as the Bult area struggle to make ends meet and often find themselves without resources to provide enough food for themselves and their families. The food bank seeks to provide a safety net for such individuals who, despite taking responsibility for their own lives, sometimes nevertheless find themselves to be without enough food.
The food bank seeks to provide a once off or temporary assistance to people who find themselves in such circumstance - encouraging them to keep taking responsibility for their lives and to act responsibly with their incomes.
You can help this project by donating non-perishable food items (canned food, mealie meal, sugar, etc.) to the church office.
Soup kitchen
Every Monday morning, between 20 and 50 people come to the church hall for free soup and bread. These are mostly people who live on the street or are car guards on the Bult. Every person who attends receives a healthy portion of soup and bread, and listens to a message from the Bible given by one of the elders in our church.
Many of the women in our church family also help especially with preparing the soup and handing it out to those who attend.
We are also very grateful for donations from the local Spar and Turkstra bakery, which provide bread. You can help with this project by coming to prepare soup before hand, serving soup and bread to people as they arrive, collecting bread or simply coming to speak with those who attend. For more information contact Elsa Els (018-294-6026).

Bet-Ezer
Bet-Ezer is a house which has been made available to homeless families to live in whilst they attempt to find work and lift themselves up out of poverty. It was funded by all of the local Reformed churches in Potchefstroom and is being managed by a dedicated committee responsible to all the congregations.
The help provided to families is temporary and consists of food, clothing, accommodation and assistance with work applications. Families are also helped with general life skills and encouraged to attend and become part of a local church. This project aims especially at families who also have children. Homeless individuals and couples are encouraged to consider 'Huis Hebron' (Afrikaans) for assistance.
If you want to find out more about this project, contact Jurg van der Walt (082-851-9176).
