Jaap and Annatjie VerhoefJaap and Annatjie have been married for more than 50 years and involved in ministry at the RC Bult since 1965! They are the cornerstone of the International Service, having been involved from the very beginning with organising and leading the music, as well as hosting Bible studies in their home (125c Steve Biko).
As older and mature Christians, they are a wonderful example to our church family of what a marriage should look like and what it means to serve in church. Their clear and lasting commitment to each other and our church family is a great testimony to the grace of God. Together, they have 5 children (all married) and 14 grandchildren living in Germany, Australia, Gauteng and Potchefstroom. Jaap can often be seen on campus, where he works part-time during the week, helping with the Potchefstroom Campus Archives/Museum. Annatjie, has retired after a long career as a organist, assistant in the RC Bult church office and even having served as church warden (for a short while). |
Raj and Mukesh KumarRaj (top) and Mukesh (bottom) are two brothers from India who came to South Africa in 2015 to study theology at the NWU and prepare themselves for ministry back in India.
Both Raj and Mukesh were converted from the Hindu religion and are part of a small but growing Reformed Church in India. Before coming to South Africa, they studied at a Christian college in India and were discipled and taught by Reverend Rajesh Kumar. Raj and Mukesh are fond of cricket and spicy food, and also eager to travel around and see South Africa. They both serve on the Student Leadership Team where they help with leading some of the Wednesday Bible studies. |
Raymond, Michelle and Susan PotgieterRaymond and Michelle have been attending our church for almost 5 years. They are married and together they have two children and two grandchildren. Originally they both come from Kalk Bay, Cape Town, which is also where they met.
Raymond served as a minister in the Reformed Evangelical Churches of South Africa (REACH) for more than 25 years, and also preaches at our Sunday services together with our other two ministers, Willem Steyn and Fanie Coetzee. At the moment, Raymond works as a professor of systematic theology and apologetics at the NWU and Michelle is a nurse at Potchefstroom Hospital. When time allows, they enjoy solving puzzles, writing stories and walking in the evening (you can often spot them on the Bult). |
Willem and Hanlie SteynWillem is married to Hanlie and together they have three children; Willem, Jana and Stephanie. They have been at the GK Bult for almost 6 years now, previously serving at the RC Bergsig & Andeon in Pretoria.
Willem is one of our ministers and studied Architecture at the University of Pretoria before coming to train for ministry in Potchefstroom. When he was a student at the NWU, he served on the student council (2007) which is where he also met Hanlie. Hanlie is a full time mom, but she also helps with the NWU translation services and trained as a Pharmacist. Their family share a love for all types of wildlife, regularly looking for chances to go to the Kruger NP, and every now and again Willem enjoys a round of golf ‐ spending most of his time searching for his ball next to the fairway. |
